Andal Kolam by VARiouS

Welcome to the blog of VARiouS

All of these represent Andal.

  1. Veena, using which she composed and sung songs for the Lord,
  2. Andal namam/Tilak( on the top of veena), representing that's her veena,
  3. Andal Konda( at the right side of veena),
  4. Andal flower garland with lotus that she wore before offering the same to the Lord,
  5. The parrot, which was one of the most important reason why Andal was able to reach the Lord.
  6. Yellowish orange background, representing sunrise (she woke up early in the morning at 4 to worship the Lord)

Here, the Veena is Andal. The Tilak on the upper part of the veena is Andal's forehead and the Veena is her body. So it's basically Andal who's wearing the garland, and there's always a parrot next to Andal, and so is the parrot in the kolam. Veena represents her because she was one devotee who believed that no actual fasting or pain can help us reach the Lord because the Lord himself would feel sad if we suffer pain. She believed that a person who worships the Lord happily with devotion can only reach him. So, she chose music and hence I drew veena in her place. Margazhi Vratham focuses only on the set of 30 songs(symbolizing devotion) and the early sunrise (  telling us how far one can keep his mind and body in control regardless of whatever the situation is around you).
Thank you.
